For the past six years, the Ombudsperson for Gender Equality of the Republic of Croatia has been a holder of four EU projects in the value of 1.5 million EUR. At national and local level, public and political focus has been drawn to different aspects of gender equality in the labor market, such as the recognition of the glass-ceiling, economic quotas, the balance between professional and private life, pay and pension gaps. The Ombudsperson created the Business Women Database, one of a kind in the region, and established the first Croatian femicide monitoring body: Femicide Watch. The institution has raised awareness about gender stereotypes and gender discrimination by addressing a variety of groups, from high school students to the representatives of the police and the judiciary.
